Welcome to Kohvik Energia, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Tallinn at Kaubamaja tn 4. This charming café captures the nostalgic essence of yesteryears, offering both a unique ambiance and a delightful selection of traditional snacks and beverages.

The moment you step inside, you're transported to a simpler time. The café boasts an almost old-fashioned charm that is both inviting and comforting. With its minimalistic yet clean design, Kohvik Energia provides the perfect backdrop for a leisurely coffee break or a casual catch-up with friends. The spacious layout caters to both small gatherings and solitary moments of reflection, creating an atmosphere that feels distinctly tailored to each guest's experience.

Kohvik Energia delights patrons with a selection that includes freshly baked bread and pastries, as well as tasty lunch options that are sure to please any palate. On the menu, you must try the celebrated rhubarb cake, a local favorite that balances tartness with sweetness in every bite. The café’s salmon and sprats toasts have also garnered rave reviews, delivering a delicious taste of Estonia. Pair any of these with a robust, aromatic cup of coffee that is known for its strong flavor and invigorating quality.

What truly makes Kohvik Energia stand out is the sense of community among its patrons. Many visitors, like Peter Munk, describe it as “the coolest spot in town,” emphasizing not just the food but the overall experience. In the words of Pelerin Brodrej, enjoying a breakfast of homemade piroshki and potato salad while sipping tea creates a perfect start to a day exploring the beautiful city of Tallinn.

The nostalgia doesn't go unnoticed—your visit might evoke memories of Soviet times, as Priit R pointed out. Yet, this is a memory carefully curated with clean premises and pleasant service, making everyone feel welcomed. Some might even long for a touch of authenticity in the music, but that should not distract from the café’s charm.

As you sit back and enjoy the carefully crafted menu, take your time to relish in the tranquil atmosphere—perfect for a quick snack while waiting for your trolleybus or a leisurely afternoon spent with a good book or delightful conversation.

For anyone in Tallinn, a visit to Kohvik Energia is more than just a stop for coffee; it’s an experience steeped in warmth and nostalgia, ready to be cherished time and again.

This coffee place in Tallinn is the coolest spot in town. Very traditional almost old-fashioned with simple but very delicious bread and bakery. The minimalistic and clean space invites to enjoy a very rare atmosphere unique for this city. I recommend a visited! We love to come here every time we are in town.

Spacious café with an old fashioned atmosphere. Everything labelled with prices and menu in English, making it quick and easy to order. Rhubarb cake recommended.

We had our breakfast here two days in a row. What a genuine little pearl of Tallinn. A cup of tea with a potato salad and piroshki was the best start to a day of strolling.

Nostalgia trip to soviet times (with the main difference being that the current place is clean, pleasant, and with adequate service). For a complete experience, it would be cool if they played authentic 70s-80s soviet music, but alas, just a generic elevator music from the speakers. Clientele tends to be people who remember the soviet times and who are spending time to wait for their trolleybus to travel home at old-timey part of Tallinn - Mustamäe. Highly recommended visit for tourists to get a glimps of the bygone era. Drop in for a reasonable priced pint of beer (4 EUR as of March 2024), simple breakfast, or coffee and a pastry. This is a place for a quick visit, and then move on.
